The ARTENSO center, affiliated with the C\u00e9gep de Saint-Laurent, has been developing since 2019 a reflection on cultural mediation in the digital age through various training, research and transfer activities. After several months of gestation during the pandemic, the center opens the LAB_ARTENSO, a physical and virtual space dedicated to the incubation, production and experimentation of digital cultural mediation devices.<\/p>\n

LUX \u00c6TERNA by Louis-Philippe Rondeau<\/span><\/i><\/a><\/h4><\/div>

lux \u00e6terna is an interactive installation where musical harmonies are created by shaping a delicate aura of light. By reaching out and interrupting its rays, the interactor produces an engaging and moving melody, filling the space with a sound reminiscent of cathedrals.<\/span><\/p>\n

lux \u00e6terna offers an enchanting, almost mystical experience. It has been described as deeply spiritual, though totally devoid of religiosity. Its simple modus operandi allows the uninitiated to create beautiful tunes, while allowing a certain form of virtuosity. By staring into the light and through the agentivity of the embodiment, the audience is invited to meditate on enigmatic concepts such as the sacred, the divine and mysticism. One could say that the use of VR is the innovative digital element, but the medium was created in the 1970s and the uses were explored years later, becoming an important part of the video game entertainment industry.<\/p>\n

In my case, what is innovative is the use I intend to make of the interface. My goal is to use it as a tool that affects perception in an embodied way, generating a type of enactive knowledge that allows one to explore oneself and becomes self-knowledge.<\/p>\n

I think it is possible to enhance the immersion unique to VR by using wearable interfaces (in addition to full-body tracking) to establish a feedback loop that allows users to perceive their breathing in real time. VR becomes a powerful medium that activates this loop and allows synchronization with the environment, which becomes an active element in constant dialogue with the users.<\/p>\n

LA RUE DES PO\u00c8TES by La bo\u00eete interactive<\/span><\/i><\/a><\/h4><\/div>

La rue des po\u00e8tes offers a stimulating experience that invites the discovery of poetry from a new angle. The project takes the form of a tree-like structure housing curious little boxes reminiscent of birdhouses. Each box invites the visitor to access a web page and to use his or her device in the prescribed way, then insert it into the box through an integrated slot.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Once the device is in the box, a poetic scene is created by the combination of the scenography, the visitors' actions and the unveiled media.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n\n\t

Linterface is a laboratory of exploration and creation intended for digital experimentation in dance, a virtual place to be appropriated by artists who wish to investigate new territories of creation, to work and reflect from digital media (video, projection, animation, virtual reality, augmented reality and more).<\/span><\/p>\n

Designed to accommodate the creative diaries of artistic residencies, our platform allows the artist to document his\/her work during the residency. Over the course of the weeks, he\/she will be asked to share pieces of his\/her process in various formats (photos, video clips, interviews, choreographic notebook pages, drawings, audio tracks, live sessions). The artists in residence will be able to freely unfold their research and reflections. Available by subscription, our Video Club section will allow users to dive into the repertoires of the artists in residence and the curators of the projects.<\/span><\/p>\n

Under the formula of a hackathon, our HACKLAB is a 3-day co-creation lab during which teams merge art and technology to conceive interactive digital works. The HACKLAB brings together a total of 50 creators, with or without disabilities (musicians, developers, artists and mentors) around a specific theme related to innovation and digital arts.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Ecosystem Alpha\" is a highly detailed 3D printed mountain relief, representing a natural environment imagined by the artist. Through precise projection mapping, the sculpture comes to life, displaying the natural cycles of water, wind, erosion and seasonal changes. Seemingly immobile, indestructible landscapes, formed over the eons, come to life before the visitor's eyes.<\/p>\n

But when he gets too close, passes his hand in front of the projection or worse, touches the surface, the installation reacts and generates a cycle of destruction, annihilating the beauty of the environment. It is then obliged to start again its long and patient work of creation.<\/p>\n

This installation is a \"sample of an ecosystem\". It is an allegory of the state of our planet and the impact of Man on its health. The name of the work refers to the expression \"there is no planet B.\"<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Told from the perspective of a tiny drop of water traveling from Niagara Falls to the power plant's turbines, this immersive experience allows visitors to experience the transformation of water into electricity.

Since 1905, the Niagara Parks Power Station has harnessed the powerful energy of Niagara Falls and turned it into electricity. Now, years after its closure in 2006, the wonder is brought to life in this breathtaking immersive experience. Using video mapping and interactive and responsive technologies, this immersive experience highlights both the remarkable history and unique architectural features of this century-old powerhouse as visitors experience the transformation of water into electricity.
